Students for Environmental Action (SEA) is a University of Georgia student organization that strives to create a more sustainable campus while creating a campus dialoge about issues in sustainability through education, service, outreach, and activism.

Education

We have one meeting each month focusing on an aspect of sustainability ranging from transportation to consumerism to waste reduction. Some meetings include guest speakers or local experts to teach us about issues specific to the local community.

Service

Every month SEA hosts a variety of service projects that use aquired knowledge to give back to the community.

Outreach

Adhering to our monthly themes, SEA members take their learned concepts to the UGA student body. Each month we host or take part in an Athens or UGA event that engages non-member students and patrons in the various environmental issues that we learn about each month.

Our largest example of outreach is Earth Week (the week of Earth Day, in April), during which we partner with the UGA Office of Sustainability and all other environmental student organizations on campus to host nearly 20 educational and engaging events across campus in just five days.

Activism

We strive to create long term solutions to environmental problems at UGA and the surrounding community. Whether it be working with UGA Dining Services to initiate composting, Facility officials to promote waste and energy efficiency, or county commissioners to create legislative change, SEA hopes to make a lasting effect during our time at UGA.
